Government Relations, National Congress of American Indians

KuWaTsi Hopah! My name is Dillon Shije, and I am a Councilman and Tribal Leader from Zia Pueblo, NM. I am a current Fellow at the National Congress of American Indians working in Government Relations. As an Impact Consultancy partner with Zia Impact and a Founding Board Member of Pueblo Development Commission, an Indigenous Advocacy NGO, I have worked with many Southwest Tribal communities on projects for health, sustainability, and infrastructure development. I also serve the All Pueblo Council of Governors as a Health Policy Advisor to the 20 Pueblo Indian Tribes of New Mexico and Texas. Prior to this, I was a Professional Runner and Division I Cross Country National Champion, a lifelong traditional dry land Farmer and Cattle Rancher. I look forward to a lifetime of serving my home community and relatives in all capacities, fighting for environmental justice, and restoring Indigenous-led stewardship of traditional territories based on tens of thousands of years of continuous Traditional Ecological Knowledge. I hold Bachelor's degrees in History and Integrative Physiology from the University of Colorado - Boulder and Pre-Med Post-Bacc from the University of New Mexico. I am excited to connect with partners and collaborators ready to make change happen!
