Jonathan Gilmour

Software Engineer and Data Scientist

I’m a data scientist and software engineer passionate about solving humanity’s most pressing problems. In 2020 and 2021, I volunteered at The COVID Tracking Project at The Atlantic to support the critical data tracking and analysis that informed two presidential administrations, numerous media outlets, and decision makers throughout the public and private sectors. I then joined a group of former leads and key contributors from the project to form the Pandemic Tracking Collective, a boutique public health consultancy focused on providing tracking solutions and science communication. From 2021 to early 2023, I advised the Rockefeller Foundation’s Pandemic Prevention Initiative on data and science communication at the intersection of public health and climate. Most recently, I have been freelancing with Nightware, a small health technology company.

I studied computer science at Grinnell College, and there developed a strong commitment to social and environmental justice. While at Grinnell, I served as President of the Student Alumni Council, was a student-athlete on the swim team, sang in the G-Tones a cappella group, and cofounded Humans of Grinnell.

I live in Brooklyn, NY. Outside of work, I enjoy exploring the outdoors with friends and family, playing beach volleyball, reading, and cooking for friends. My favorite national park is North Cascades National Park.
